Spring Break Adventures: Rome

Eighth grade Latin students Abraham Ullrich, Ben Gouffon, Ben Lovely, Kate Betz, Luke Fowler, Molly Majors and Trevor Tirro traveled to Rome, Italy during Spring Break! ESK graduates Will Fowler and Nick Lovely joined the students on the travel adventure. Ms. Lovely, Ms. Kolyer and Mrs. Fowler journeyed with the group and enjoyed fabulous explorations to the charming seaside towns of Sorrento and Salerno. Following a lovely drive along the Amalfi coast, the group traveled by boat to the Isle of Capri. The travelers hiked Capri to explore Villa Jovis and Tiberius Leap. After a day trip to Naples’ National Archeological Museum and the historic Underground, the travelers ventured on to Rome. While in Rome the group was honored to travel through several Holy Doors opened for the Holy Year of Mercy Jubilee. They visited the Colosseum, Forum, and the Arch of Constantine. Cathedral tours included: St. John Lateran, Scala Sancta of the Holy Stairs and the Basilica di Santa Maria. A gorgeous spring day provided excellent tours of the Pantheon and Trevi fountain. The group members peacefully ventured through the Trastevere neighborhood for shopping, gelato, and street performances. The Vatican tour included St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, and the Vatican museum. Students and families should stay tuned for future world travel adventures with the ESK world languages departments!
