ESK Students Shine at Tate’s Science Fair

ESK had a big night at the Tate’s Regional Science Fair awards ceremony held last week. Numerous students brought home medals, certificates and prizes from the annual event. Here’s a list of the winners and their awards.

Fourth Grade: Eliana Freshour won the Werhner Von Braun Award for a flight or propulsion project; Cooper Sprouse won the Thomas Edison Award for a project that addressed a question in a novel way; Amelia Underwood won the Mr. Wizard Award for the most unexpected result; Karenna Thurman won honorable mention in the area of Life Sciences; Andrew McLean won honorable mention in the area of Physical Sciences; and Greta Whitt won first place in the area of Physical Sciences.

Fifth Grade: Sadie Maierhofer won the American Museum of Science and Energy Award for a scientific method project; Alex O’Dell won the American Museum of Science and Energy Award for a scientific method project; Pierce Broadhurst won the George Lucas Award for a project emphasizing music or video; Bayless Bolt won the Hedy Lamarr Award for a computer or technological project; Ryan McCarter won the Hill/Mayerhoff Award for a project in exercise or sports; Loren Gilbert won the Jane Goodall Award for a zoological project; Samuel Meares won the Toru Iwatani Award for a video game project; Alex O’Dell won the Einstein Award for a physics project; Zoe Bremer won the Bill Nye Award for the best project title; Emma Carr won the Mr. Wizard Award for the most unexpected result; Colin Cook won the Nobel Award for an explosive project; Anthony Schmitt won honorable mention in the area of Earth Sciences; Ella Parker won second place in the area of Life Sciences; and Celeste Urdall won honorable mention in the area of Physical Sciences.
