ESK Honors Veterans

ESK was honored to welcome Brigadier General John Cardwell to campus Friday in honor of Veterans’ Day. BG Cardwell spoke with middle school students during Chapel and then answered questions during a brief session with eighth grade students. BG Cardwell is a native of Loudon, Tennessee where he graduated from Loudon High School in 1980. BG Cardwell attended the University of Tennessee on an Army ROTC scholarship graduating with Honors as a distinguished military graduate in 1984. Commissioned as an Armor officer, BG Cardwell has commanded at all levels from platoon to Commanding General of all Army Reserve forces in the Pacific with units located in Alaska, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Japan, Korea, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas. BG Cardwell is a combat veteran serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His assignments have included Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kosovo, Germany, Korea, Japan and numerous stated locations. BG Cardwell’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, and the Army’s highest peace time award, the Distinguished Service Medal. BG Cardwell is currently serving as the Deputy Commanding General of the 75th Training Command, Houston, Texas. Thank you to BG Cardwell for his visit and service to our country!
