Eclipse Day Festival

We our counting the days to totality at ESK, and are beyond excited about the upcoming eclipse day events. The faculty and staff have planned several lessons and many fun activities to be conducted on campus starting this Thursday and concluding with the astronomical grand finale on Monday afternoon. We hope that you will be able to join us for some of these campus events as well as the viewing of the eclipse.

The Thursday and Friday activities will be more academic and preparatory, and will allow our older students to meet up with their eclipse buddies in the lower grades. On Monday (8/21) the campus will be prepped much like a field day setup with several activity stations and booths positioned around the campus including:

Face Painting

Blackout Poetry

Solar Slime

Shadow Drawings

UV Bracelets

Pinhole Viewers

Animal Observations

Puppet Theater

Photo/Selfie Booth

Families, alumni and friends of the school are welcome to join us for the fun and festivities. The activities will begin at 1:15pm, and at 2:15pm we will gather at the fields by Secor Hall to prepare for the window of totality. Activities will resume after the big show, and our dismissal times will remain at 3:00pm for Lower School and 3:30pm for Middle School. If you plan to retrieve your child early, please make sure you sign them out in the office.

Once again, we have purchased enough safety glasses for all students, and we will have a few surplus pairs available this Thursday and Friday in the office on a first-come-first-serve basis. Safety is of upmost importance, and I will encourage everyone to make advance preparations with both eyewear and travel routes.

Again, we are looking forward to this awesome educational opportunity!
