Teachers we love: Tiffany Alden

During the 2018-2019 school year Ms. Tiffany Alden will work alongside the second grade team as the second grade assistant. We already know that she is going to provide wisdom and insight to her team, as she is an experienced English teacher who loves kids. As someone who has taught in an Episcopal school before, she’ll be a natural fit into our caring community.

Q&A with Tiffany Alden

What is your favorite summer memory?

Ms. Alden: I have had many a great summer, but this one has been one of the best. With two kids at different colleges, it’s difficult to get us all under one roof for any extended period of time, but this summer I have been blessed to have us all together at the beach. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Who was your favorite teacher?

Ms. Alden:  My favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. Henderson for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science. She was never frazzled and she always laughed- sometimes at herself, sometimes at us, and most importantly-with us.

She sounds like a joyful person who made an impression on you. I’m sure you’ve taken to heart her example as you lead in the classroom. You taught English, so we can’t wait to hear your reading recommendations. Do you have a favorite book?

Ms. Alden: Having been an English teacher, I love to read! Elie Wiesel’s Night probably tops the list. This summer’s obsession is physiological thrillers.

You are joining a community that loves to read! We can’t wait to swap favorites with you. What are you most looking forward to about teaching at ESK?

Ms. Alden: When I first talked with Dr. Talmadge this summer, I called my family and said “that felt like home.” I am so excited and appreciative of the opportunity to become a part of the ESK family and to work with the 2nd graders and cross country runners. This will be a great year!

We are glad to have you here to share things you love, like reading and physical wellness, with our students. Welcome to ESK! We know you’ll love working at a place that values holistic child development and placed-based, outdoor education.
